A Thing to Do
May 13, 2026 – John Abrams
We all do what we can in these times. Many of us wonder how we can do more to turn the political situation around. The 2026 midterms are shaping up to be a critical hinge point; everything we can do to help has value. Here’s one thing we can do together. My partner Kim and I are cohosting an online fundraising event for the Movement Voter Project's PAC on Sunday, June 7. We support MVP because of its powerful strategic work to strengthen on-the-ground activism for democracy. We hope you’ll join us.
MVP identifies and supports effective local grassroots organizations in swing states. They fund these groups all year, every year—not just in election years—to help build lasting power at the state level and pave the way to widespread electoral victories.
It’s different than the old model of giving to individual candidates and funding political ads every 2-4 years, which just isn’t enough to combat the extreme right wing forces we face.
We’ve been inspired by MVP’s different approach and impact, and we’d like to share it with you. It’s pretty special.
We hope you’ll come to this one-hour event on Sunday, June 7 at 5:00 PM Eastern (4:00 PM Central, 3:00 PM Mountain, 2:00 PM Pacific). We are fortunate that Chuck Collins, author of compelling books about wealth inequality like Burned by Billionaires and Born on Third Base, will cohost and say a few words about MVP’s relevance. Once you register, you will receive a Zoom link for the event.
Please forward this post to others you know who might want to join us. And, if you can’t attend, please make a donation here.
We look forward to sharing this moment and this organization with you.
Warm wishes,
John & Kim
